DRINKING MILK – PT Sarihusada Generasi Mahardhika (SGM) celebrated 70 years of dedication in nourishing the Advanced Generation of Indonesia by holding a series of activities centered in Yogyakarta.
The activities started from the handover of educational funding support for Elementary Schools (SD) for 70 Indonesian Children, the Advanced Generation Parade involving the local community to breaking the MURI record for Drinking Milk Together with the Most Families simultaneously in 70 cities.
Laurent Boissier as CEO of Danone Indonesia said, “For 7 decades, SGM has been dedicated to supporting the government in overcoming one of the biggest challenges in developing Indonesia’s human resources, namely the problem of fulfilling nutrition. Optimal nutritional fulfillment is the main key in realizing a healthy, intelligent, and productive next generation.
For this reason, the 70th Anniversary of SGM is presented as a form of SGM’s commitment to continue to ensure that children throughout Indonesia get the nutrition they need to grow and develop optimally through product innovation to educational programs and providing millions of reasons for parents to be confident in SGM’s commitment to nourishing the nation.
“Children under 5 years old are an age group that is very vulnerable to malnutrition. The impact of suboptimal nutritional fulfillment can have long-term consequences, which not only affect physical health, but can also interfere with cognitive and motor development, as well as the overall brain development of children. ” said Laurent in a media release received by the editors on Tuesday (8/27/2024).
This Family Milk Drinking activity was carried out simultaneously and broadcast live in 70 cities such as: Bandung, Medan, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Makassar, Mataram including the 3T (underdeveloped, outermost, foremost) areas, which aims to build and encourage public awareness in these areas of the importance of fulfilling balanced nutrition. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of SGM, there are also various activities involving the community, such as the 70th Anniversary of SGM Grand Parade, the Yogyakarta Special Region Province-Level Kindergarten Sports and Arts Week, various competitions and children’s play areas.
“The 70th anniversary of SGM is an important milestone in our journey to support the health and development of children throughout Indonesia. We hope that the various activities from this celebration can have a positive impact and strengthen the trust of mothers in Indonesia in choosing SGM to support and meet the nutritional needs of their children,” said Laurent.
Furthermore, Laurent revealed that one of the problems that also has significant potential in stunted children is that children with stunting have a risk of anemia 2 to 3 times higher than children who are not stunted and anemia is generally found in 1 in 5 Indonesian children under the age of 5 years.
“This condition underlines the importance of meeting children’s nutritional needs from an early age to prevent long-term detrimental impacts.” said Laurent
