CREATIVE — The city of Yogyakarta has great creative economy potential, especially in the sub-sectors of applications, culinary, fashion, crafts, and film, animation, and video that can be utilized as business development opportunities by creative economy actors. However, creativity and innovation are needed from creative economy actors in reaching a wider market by utilizing currently developing technology.
In this regard, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, encouraged creative economy actors in the city of Yogyakarta to continue to innovate, work, and build networks in an effort to improve the community’s economy and create wider employment opportunities.
“Yogyakarta is a very creative city. It’s time for us to be very serious about proposing this city as a Creative City in Indonesia by completing the requirements requested by UNESCO. “Sandiaga told the mass media at Ndalem Ngabean Resto, Yogyakarta City, Saturday (7/20/2024)
Sandiaga added that in an effort to prepare for this, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy gave the Jogja Tourism Office 3 months. For this reason, the implementation of the KaTa Kreatif workshop is one of the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf in encouraging the revival of the creative economy in Indonesia.
Furthermore, Sandiaga said that this workshop activity is the eleventh location of the series of Creative Regency/City Development Indonesia programs in 2024. This is a form of commitment from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to continue to provide comprehensive strengthening of the creative economy ecosystem in the City of Yogyakarta which continues to be committed to developing creative regency/city nodes based on their creative economy subsectors.
In addition, this workshop is a form of activity activation by facilitating creative economy actors and MSME entrepreneurs in exploring and developing creative and innovative ideas so that they have added value and provide branding reinforcement for their products.
The workshop activity was filled by 2 speakers, namely Wiendu Nuryanti who delivered material on the Socialization of Assistance for the Proposal of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and Saga Iqranegara, General Chairperson of the Creative Digital Association . The workshop participants consisted of 150 creative economy actors domiciled in the city of Yogyakarta.
Sandiaga hopes that with the implementation of the Creative Word Workshop in the city of Yogyakarta, creative economy business actors can increase their existing capacity so that they can be competitive and can create wider employment opportunities for the surrounding community, and can increase synergy between stakeholders in order to strengthen networks among creative economy actors.
