DRIVING LICENCE — Yogyakarta Special Region Police Chief Inspector General (Pol) Suwondo Nainggolan SIK MH said that the increase in traffic accidents was the impact of smooth traffic. Therefore, the Regional Police Chief appealed to the people of Jogja, especially students, to obey traffic signs and complete driving safety.
“Many children do not wear helmets on the grounds that the driving distance is only quite close. In fact, traffic accidents can happen at any time, regardless of the driving distance,” said Suwondo in a Public Lecture in front of new UNY students at the UNY Sports Center, Monday (5/8/2024).
Suwondo asked the public to be more mature in responding to legal regulations and traffic regulations. This is because he believes that the people of Jogja are civilized citizens considering that the Jogja government was born before the formation of the Republic of Indonesia.
Suwondo promised that during his leadership in the Jogja area there would be no raids on Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration Certificates and motorcycle equipment. He believes that the people of DIY are mature in terms of law and driving regulations
“Trust me, as long as you are in Jogja, you will not get that,” promised Suwondo
Suwondo emphasized that currently the requirements for obtaining a Driving License and Vehicle Registration Certificate have been made easier, so that students who do not yet have a Driving License are expected to take care of it at the nearest police station. Ownership of a Driving License is very important, so that when a traffic accident occurs, insurance compensation can be taken care of quickly.
Meanwhile, regarding student demonstration activities, Suwondo challenged students to be able to show alternative concepts based on scientific research facts when demonstrating, by involving experts and not just demanding or urging.
“If you leave with that kind of thinking, the Jogja Police will be happy to accompany the activities and pay for the experts,” said Suwondo. (*)
