MUSIC — The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) collaboration concert with the Yogyakarta Royal Orchestra (YRO) created a beautiful harmony. Not just a collaboration, but a meeting of two great visions through cultural exchange and creative synergy.
Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X while reading his remarks at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Collaboration Concert, Thursday (11/07) at Siwa Field, Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta. Sri Sultan said that this momentum is also a manifestation of the desire to get to know and appreciate each other’s unique cultures.
“Every momentum of the collaboration concert is a stage of honor and pride in itself. Since 2015, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the oldest professional orchestra in Australia that resonates internationally, has established a partnership with the Regional Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta,” said Sri Sultan.
Sri Sultan further said that on this occasion, the signing of the renewal of the Youth Music Camp 2025-2027 cooperation was also carried out. It is hoped that the cooperation that has been going well will become even more positive by adding collaborative activities for both parties, in presenting cross-cultural performance programs.
“To the participants of the 2024 Youth Music Camp, I believe that you all get a lot of benefits. Not only musical skills, but also inspiration about preserving and enriching cultural heritage, making it more meaningful, so that in the future it can have a real impact on society. In order to support Yogyakarta as an icon of cultural tourism in Indonesia and the international arena,” said Sri Sultan.
Sri Sultan hopes that every melody that flows can remind us all of the unshakable harmony of brotherhood between Melbourne and Jogja .
“Let us enjoy the performance of the Yogyakarta Royal Orchestra and absorb every meaning, as a symbol and celebration of the spirit that we share,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Board Director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Edgar Myer said that this collaborative concert is a celebration of beautiful music, cultural heritage and friendship that exists between the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Jogja Regional Government.
Tonight’s performance is a new chapter in the history of strong collaboration.
