FASHION — The Jogja Fashion Week 2024 fashion show will be held soon. This year, at least 112 famous designers have officially stated their participation in this prestigious event. They will showcase a number of their latest fashion designs.
Aulia Suhandika as the Organizing Committee for JFW 2024 stated that the appearance of these designers will be divided into two sessions, namely the afternoon session (64 designers) and the evening session (48 designers). This appearance was selected based on the results of a joint curation between the DIY Provincial Government, representatives of the Fashion Association, observers and other parties.
“Regarding who was selected, we will announce it soon,” said Aulia when contacted by reporters on Saturday (10/8/2024) via his cellphone.
Furthermore, Aulia emphasized that JFW 2024 carries the spirit of togetherness. Therefore, the committee also consists of various elements of fashion designer associations and fashion industry players.
In addition, starting this year the Committee has also decided that there will be no more exhibition stands from the Fashion Designer Association, in order to avoid the impression that JFW is merely a Fashion Designer exhibition event but rather a Fashion Industry Festival event.
“Our spirit is to encourage Jogja to become the center of World Fashion. Frankly, I am sad if there are still voices from fashion actors who feel marginalized because they feel they are not involved in this Festival event. ” said Aulia.
Aulia admitted that of the 112 designers who appeared, the designers who appeared received subsidies from the DIY Provincial Government, while the designers who appeared at night were national designers who appeared at their own expense.
However, since now there has been a discourse that in the future, all designers who display their work will no longer receive subsidies.
“Next year there is a discourse that all fashion designers who want to exhibit their work, all appear at their own expense, so that there is no impression of favoritism between designers. But we are currently discussing this. ” said Aulia. (*/Sulist Ds)
