KITE — The grand event of Jogja International Kite Festival (JIKF) 2024 will soon be held at Parang Kusumo Beach, Bantul, Yogyakarta on July 27-28, 2024. This festival is confirmed to be attended by 55 international kite clubs from 13 countries in the world such as Korea, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia, Poland and several other countries.

The festival, which carries the theme “Uniting For Love & Peace”, will feature an exhibition of kites in various colors and sizes. Not only as entertainment, every kite flying in the sky of Parang Kusumo Beach carries a message of love and peace that is expected to inspire all visitors.

In addition to the kite exhibition, this festival also offers various other interesting activities including: Kite Contest, Fly Pass, Traditional Arts Performance, Photography Competition, Culinary Exhibition, Night Flying Kite Attraction and martial arts attractions from the Merpati Putih Martial Arts School.

“The kite show at night illuminated by light creates a spectacular view,” said the General Chairperson of Talikama Kite Lovers  RM Herdjuno S  to mass media reporters at Soeltan Cafe, Wednesday (7/24/2024).

Herdjuno added , that the Night Flying Attraction is one of the attractions that is very popular with the public besides the Dragon Train. This is because this attraction makes the South Coast very lively and bright.

“Although this is only an exhibition from participants from various countries, we will still give awards to the most beautiful kites,” said Herdjuno.

Herdjuno further explained that Parang Kusumo Beach was chosen as the location for the festival for technical reasons. This beach has a stretch of 1.5 kilometers and a shoreline length of 200 meters, with strong sea breezes that can fly various kites of various sizes, including the Dragon Train Kite which is 150 meters long.

The wide beach area also allows it to accommodate many participants and spectators. Last year, this festival managed to attract around 50 thousand visitors, and this year it is hoped that even more will come to witness the beauty and excitement of this event.

JIKF 2024 is not only a kite exhibition event, but also a means to increase visits to tourism activities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, because since several years it has been held, this Festival has proven to be able to attract public attention. (*/ Sulist Ds )
