.DISASTER — The Gunung Kidul Regency Government has declared a drought emergency status starting August 1, 2024. Therefore, a number of preparations have been made to overcome this problem, including the distribution of clean water to a number of affected areas.
Head of the Gunungkidul Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Government has prepared a budget for a clean water supply of 1,000 tanks for the Gunungkidul people in the Panggang, Saptosari, Tepus, Girisubo, and Rongkop areas.
“We have prepared 1,000 water tanks from BPBD, and so far 288 tanks have been distributed,” Purwono told reporters on Monday (7/15/2024)
Purwono added that the clean water distribution process has been carried out since last June. This was done based on requests from the peoples. In addition to several priority areas, the supply of clean water assistance has also been prepared for other areas in Gunungkidul, namely 13 sub-districts.
Meanwhile, Gunungkidul Regent, Sunaryanta continues to ask the entire community to be wise in utilizing water, because water reserves are very limited. In addition, in order to avoid fire disasters in this dry season, his party also appealed not to carelessly burn garbage.
“People who often burn garbage must be careful and those who have never burned garbage should not do it. This is so that unwanted things do not happen,” he said. (*/Olivia)
