LITERATURE — The Yogyakarta City Cultural Service (Kundha Kabudayan) always strives to be adaptive to the development of digital-based contemporary literature that is popular among Gen Z.
As part of the pre-event of the 2024 Yogyakarta Literature Festival, the “AlternateUniverse” and Fanfiction Workshop: New Canvas for Contemporary Literature was held at Taman Pintar on Friday, September 13, 2024. The agenda, which was opened by the Head of the Yogyakarta City Cultural Service (Kundha Kabudayan) Yetti Martanti, was filled with the presence of young people from Yogyakarta.
“The workshop has an important role in raising the enthusiasm and sensitivity of the younger generation towards popular literature. The younger generation does not only focus on conventional literary works, but can develop with contemporary literary works along with the times,” he said.
“Hopefully this event can be a forum for people who want to explore insights related to the world of writing and knowledge related to cyber literature. This event is also an opening door for people to create literary works, both digital and conventional. It also opens our sensitivity that the alternate universe has colored Indonesian Popular Literature,” continued Yetti.
The speakers who presented the cyber literature material were Titania Priantika and Filiana Nur Wahiddah, both of whom are writers who are involved in the alternative universe. Both Titania and Filiana delivered material related to the Alternate Universe insight and writing in creating the Alternate Universe. Something interesting, both of them raised Javanese traditional culture and collaborated it through social media.
The cyber literature workshop is a new breakthrough for the Yogyakarta Literature Festival, where the transition from the conventional literature era to the digital literature era has become an undeniable reality. This cyber literature workshop is a way to provide insight to the people of Yogyakarta City regarding Indonesian Popular Literature. (adv)
